Feeling a little sweet? How about Lemon Chiffon cupcakes. Strawberry Delight. Java Chip. Boston Cream.
Perhaps savory is what you crave. Think ultimate grilled cheese. Man Cave stacked sandwich. Daily quiches. – Is your mouth watering yet?
As we like to say, we’re sweet until we’re not.
The Sweet Road to 6655 Main Street
Welcome to the Sweet Tooth Café & Bakery!
In September 2015, Sweet Tooth Café & Bakery opened up along Gloucester’s historic Main Street in the Gloucester Village, expanding what was once the Sweet Tooth Parlor cupcakery into a full bakery and café. Always fresh and local whenever possible, owner Crystal Burton is proud to offer vegetarian, gluten free, low carb and healthy choices alongside her wildly popular sweet treats.
“This has always been a dream of mine, it’s my passion,” Crystal said. “I am big on quality food products at affordable prices.”
Growing up, Crystal always loved being in the kitchen. During high school, she landed a job as a Cake Decorator at Wal-Mart in Tappahannock. Originally worried she wouldn’t have the skills necessary for the job, she not only became a highly skilled decorator, but also created a dream of owning her own parlor one day.
She went on to Christopher Newport University where she earned a degree in Political Science and English, leading her to her current work as a probation officer.
For seven years, Crystal prepared and sold cakes and cupcakes out of her home kitchen. Her business grew quickly, so she combined a lease with a fellow business owner and sold cupcakes at a small shop on Main Street. That was before 2015, when she placed first in the Launch Gloucester entrepreneur competition and won the support she needed – start up capital, business consulting, marketing support – to expand the parlor into a full fledged café.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without my faith in God. He has prepared a plan and a purpose for my life and I am following His will and allowing it to unfold.”
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. Philippians 4:13
The Sweet Tooth Café
The Sweet Tooth Café & Bakery takes a farm to table approach with Crystal buying as many goods as possible. The goal is to make everything hot and fresh and support local farmers.
The café menu includes items such as seasonal soups, sandwiches, quiche and customizable salads, all made from scratch. The café also offers a boxed lunch service with free delivery to Main Street businesses.
“I did some research when I created my business plan and recognized a need for a service like this on Main Street to help businesses who have a short lunch break or are unable to leave the office,” said Crystal. “Our boxed lunch will include one of our signature sandwiches, a side item and our southern banana pudding.”
Plus, there’s an awesome kids menu which includes gluten free items.
It is important for you children to eat healthy when at all possible. We offer Gluten Free, all natural, no antibiotics chicken tenders, and apples. Also, you can use or Gluten Free bread with any kids meal to make the meal gluten free as well.
The Sweet Tooth Bakery
Sweet Tooth’s array of “made from scratch” desserts including warm cinnamon rolls, specialty cheesecakes, our signature banana pudding, cakes and cupcakes, all with natural gourmet ingredients.
And of course, the custom cakes and cupcakes Crystal is known for remains.
All of Sweet Tooth’s products are baked from scratch with no added preservatives and no artificial flavors. They are made moments prior to pick-up or delivery.
Baking from scratch allows Crystal and her team to create a limitless variety of flavors, and most importantly, it provides a rich home-made sweetness that can’t be accomplished any other way.
Sweet Tooth does not use box mixes and most ingredients are not easily found in a food pantry.
Cupcakes are made using the world’s most natural ingredients such as Madagascar Vanilla, Organic Vanilla Beans, European Butter, Valrhona and Guittard Chocolates, farm fresh eggs and local fruits.
